On the morning of April 19, 2025, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) officially inaugurated Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Construction began in August 2022, and after more than 20 months of intensive work -including continuous construction during holidays and the Lunar New Year, the project was completed two months ahead of schedule.

The passenger terminal consists of one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 112,500 m². The terminal is designed with separate departure and arrival levels to optimize passenger flow.
The facility is equipped with 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 self-service bag drop counters, 42 self check-in kiosks, and 27 boarding gates, including 13 jet bridge gates and 14 bus gates.
In addition, the terminal features six departure baggage handling islands, ten arrival baggage claim carousels, and 25 security screening checkpoints, including eight automated security gates and a dedicated area for VIP, business-class, and priority passengers.
A key highlight of Terminal 3 is the ACV Self Services system, an advanced aviation technology solution currently implemented at leading smart airports such as Incheon (South Korea) and Changi (Singapore). Passengers can complete check-in at kiosks, drop off their baggage independently, and pass through automated e-gates before boarding.
Notably, Terminal 3 also integrates chip-based national ID cards and facial recognition technology (Facial ID) into the passenger processing system.
Terminal 3 is now the largest domestic terminal in Vietnam, with a design capacity of 20 million passengers per year and the ability to handle 7,000 passengers per hour during peak periods. With the addition of Terminal 3, the total annual capacity of Tan Son Nhat International Airport increases to 50 million passengers.

In addition to the passenger terminal, the project also includes a multi-story parking and non-aviation service complex, consisting of two basement levels and four above-ground floors, with a total construction area of 130,000 m². This multifunctional complex provides parking facilities, commercial spaces, hotels, restaurants, and various amenities for passengers and visitors.
